For the past several years, Extension has been part of the University of Minnesota’s fund-raising campaign, “Driven.” The campaign goal of $4 billion is the first to include Extension.
Urban youth learn about growing food and meet people who live on farms. Rural youth learn photography and video skills and meet people who live in cities. Kids raised in the suburbs and in Indian Country discover projects that mean something to them. All of them learn that there are many ways to be a Minnesotan, together in 4-H.
In 2018, University of Minnesota Extension nutrition educators helped sponsor the One Vegetable, One Community program in 18 communities.
Extension’s Minnesota Master Naturalist volunteers took a 9-mile bike ride near Brainerd to learn about native forest ecosystems, roadside vegetation and invasive species detection and reporting.
